Throne

I think (does anybody much disagree?) that "throne" meaning "toilet" was
originally colloquial and facetious. To me it still seems so. But I have
no doubt it is otherwise for some (what proportion I don't know).

It seems to me that it might be accepted as definitely
non-colloquial-and-non-facetious when/if it routinely appears not only
in casual remarks but in serious published material, e.g., catalogues of
appliances/fixtures aimed at plumbers or builders.
