I'm more intrigued by "temporarily suicidal".  Was the character a
suicide, and then returned in a later episode?  (Similar things have
happened in the world of television and film.)  Or did he merely have
suicidal tendencies?

But at least Laurence isn't telling us he is "recurrently
suicidal".  Something like Generalissimo Franco.
