I think Victor and I are at the same shelf
now. With a couple of minor exceptions.

True -- but for government work the Harvard record does say "Title from cover".

The Harvard record for "Asia : journal of the
American Asiatic Association" (New York : Asia
Pub. Co., c1917-[c1942]) *is* linked to other titles. Its record has
Continues : Journal of the American Asiatic Association
Continued by : Asia and the Americas
Notes : Imprint varies: New York : Asia Magazine, Inc, -1942.

The Harvard record for "Asia and the Americas",
however, does not contain a "Continued by", just "Continues". But see below.

Victor is I think referring here to the Harvard
record for "Asia and the Americas" (1942--1946) having a
Linking notes : Merged with: Free world
(New York, N.Y. : 1941), and: Inter-American, to
form: United Nations world (New York, N.Y.).

That is, two journals merged, and the successor
was named ... . A bit more complicated than a
single journal being "continued by" a journal with a new name.

This is for the holding at Villa Tatti, Florence
(Biblioteca Berenson). Somewhat nearer is the
Tozzer Harvard Depository holding, with call number
      L.SOC.120.35.4

I agree :-) Here a large library catalogue like
Harvard's has an advantage over
WorldCat. WorldCat gives one 15,776 listings for
the title search "Asia" (that word alone) and
"Journal, magazine". Harvard gives only 20, they
are in chronological order (ascending or
descending as you wish), and it's pretty quick to
find a journal with an issue in 1923.

(While the Harvard holdings are only accessible
to the privileged, or those who can obtain
letters from the privileged authenticating
themselves as privileged too, its catalogue is accessible to all.)
