"zombie fact"

"Zombie facts" -- "claims that are shown to be untrue but which
simply will not die."  As defined in column "I Didn't Write That" in
today's NYTimes "Sunday Review" section by one of the two real David
Kaisers, neither of whom wrote the essay that is the topic of the
op-ed article.

It's hard to distinguish this from "facts about zombies".  Not in
UrbanDictionary.
