NYC's Upper, Lower, and mid- East Sides

My mother was born in 1904 on Central Park North (i. e. 110th Street).  I used to describe it as "Spanish Harlem before it was Spanish Harlem", and apparently was in an upscale Silk Stocking Irish neighborhood (she came from Tammany Hall stock; her grandfather was a one-term mayor of NY before she was born, and lived in the heart of Harlem in 1904--W 123rd).
