Following is from a CNN.com article. A cop is giving advice about opening
your door to strangers (in this case, strangers in distress, but that is
irrelevant to the eggcorn).
"Always beware of your surroundings around the entry way such as high
bushes..."
Unless the idea is that the bushes themselves may attack you, he surely
means "Always be aware of your surroundings..." This seems to fit in with
the idea that the eggcorn has relevance to the original meaning or even
enhances it.
