Ben Zimmer in WSJ: "Grand Bargain"

Ben Zimmer's latest Wall Street Journal column (Nov. 9-10, 2013, p. C4) is on "grand bargain," a phrase recently in the news, e.g. Harry Reid's dismissal of suggestions of a grand bargain as being merely "happy talk."

Ben comments (among other things) that the phrase first gained currency during the Cold War, and as usual he has written an interesting piece.
