"Pass the buck" was discussed here at some length in 2005. Apparently
the buck was some sort of marker in poker games, and was not always used
the same (e.g., apparently did not invariably mark the dealer). In some
games the player with the buck apparently was a decision maker (e.g., in
dealer's choice games). In some games the buck was placed in the pot, IIRC.
