WB:     Only problem is, gee whiz, Mandarin is the worst topolect to use as
typolect in historical comparisons. Citing Middle Chinese forms nowadays
would not be such a great effort:
Middle Chinese liek+si, Late Han Chinese lek+s@ , Old Chinese
*rek+*sr@? (trashing
notation for ADS-L, of course).
