Follow up: I got nothing about Ms. Kasper's pronunciation, but, now that
they have my email address, they sent me a nice recipe for spaghetti alla
carbonara.

She frequently refers to her Italian, not German, heritage.
Anyway, the German pronunciation is more like "rint."
