After I posted the 1873 citation for "jackpot," Stephen Goranson posted an 1872 citation. It looks like that is still the earliest confirmed occurrence.

I believe I've found two earlier examples.
Here is an edition of The Modern Pocket Hoyle from 1868
It's described as one of the changes/ additions from the previous edition
