The NYPD has long been known as "New York's Finest."  Not to be outdone,
the Fire Department became "New York's Bravest."

I now see that an official sign in front of the city prison complex on
Rikers Island reads:

         CITY OF NEW YORK
CORRECTION DEPARTMENT
            RIKERS ISLAND
HOME OF NEW YORK'S BOLDEST

Presumably that means the officers.
