On 29 September 2015, the Guardian published an article (http://bit.ly/1KPqUi9) by Mary Valle on aquafaba. According to the article, Goose Wohlt posted on Facebook on 6 March 2015 about the use of chickpea brine to create meringue for a vegan treat, and later coined the term aquafaba.

Wiktionary and Wikipedia both have the word. The Wikipedia article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aquafaba <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aquafaba>) has Dutch, Esperanto and Hebrew versions, and the word has spread to French (http://bit.ly/1OTgml2 <http://bit.ly/1OTgml2>) and Italian (http://bit.ly/1VL5Kto) as well.
