There was a thread recently, which I cannot now locate, about "nothing".

John Stevens, chief engineer of the Panama Canal, to Frank Maltby, division head at Colo'n, Panama, in 1905:

"You won't get fired if you do something, you will if you don't do anything.  Do something if it is wrong, for you can correct hat, but there is no way to correct nothing."
