The digital file for the Anniston [AL] Star 1 Jan 1900 p 24 col 6 is incorrectly dated.
The paper itself does not list the date at the top of all of the pages; but that particular page lists its circulation numbers for the year 1930. If you go back to page 1 of the same newspaper file, it actually shows page 1 for 1900; but if you go through that paper page-by-page, you also see a page dated 1924. So, something is amiss.

Your 1915 example may still be the oldest.

Tourists Roll Into Tallulah After Trip's Pleasantest Day
NED M'INTOSH The Atlanta Constitution (1881-2001); Oct 3, 1915; pg. 12
col 1.
"The tourists played African golf tonight around a big bonfire in front
of the Cliff house."

The oldest example I found when I did my blog post on "Baby needs a new pair of shoes" and "African Golf" was July 1916. Newspapers.com shows an earlier one in 1916; but the 1915 example does not show up in a search (although you can see it by browsing to the date and page).
