[Ads-l] Help tracking down a journal named "English"?

In the American Language, HL Mencken refers several times in footnotes to a (journal?) named “English” publishing monthly in the early 1900s to at least 1920. I’m having trouble tracking this down online, as a name like that is hella difficult to search. I did find an OUP journal named English but it didn’t start publishing until 1936 or so. Any help would be appreciated.
