"Antifa" has been a very common term in German and other European left-wing
activism (the exact nature of which changes with times) for a long time.
The full term, "Antifaschismus" in German for example seems to be as old as
fascism itself. I'm not able right now to figure out when the shortened
form became common, but it certainly has been since the 90s.
