A&P went out of business in 2015. The last stores were concentrated in the Northeast, and according to Wikipedia had nearly 300 stores (some may have operated under other names, like Pathmark) and 30,000 employees at the end.

Some of us even remember the original name—the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company. The last A&P in New Haven shuttered around 15 years ago, if memory serves. It probably doesn’t, though.
