An email from his widow reports the sad news of the passing, some weeks
ago, of our friend and colleague Robin Hamilton.

Robin often demonstrated his capacity to combine a sense of humor with
ferociously accurate and original scholarship. He had a more detailed
knowledge  of early English cant and slang than anyone else in the world,
or so I would wager.

A real loss for all of us.
