dear colleagues,

my name is eveline wandl-vogt. i am foundress and coordinator of the working group "methods and innovation" at the austrian academy of sciences, austrian centre of digital humanities-öaw.

in one of the projects of our exploration space we are experimenting with the new forms of (non-standard/indegenous language) "dictionary", the so-called "post-dictionary".

one of our core workpackages is about semantic technologies / infrastructures, carried out by adapt centre ireland with the main contributor yalemisew abgaz (cc).

we are offering a model for non-standard/indigenous linguistic data and try to embed some cultural information.

further workpackages deal with the development of prototypes for visual analysis.

current freely accessible publications on the topic:

Abgaz, Yalemisew, Amelie Dorn, Barbara Piringer, Eveline Wandl-Vogt, and Andy Way. 2018. A Semantic Model for Traditional Data Collection Questionnaires Enabling Cultural Analysis. In: McCrae, John P., Christian Chiarcos, Thierry Declerck, Jorge Gracia, and Bettina Klimek (Eds.), Proceedings of the LREC 2018 Workshop "6th Workshop on Linked Data in Linguistics (LDL-2018)". Miyazaki, p. 21-29.
Dorn, Amelie, Eveline Wandl-Vogt, Yalemisew Abgaz, Alejandro Benito Santos, and Roberto Therón. 2018. Unlocking Cultural Conceptualisation in Indigenous Language Resources: Collaborative Computing Methodologies. In: Soria, Claudia, Laurent Besacier, and Laurette Pretorius (Eds.), Proceedings of the LREC 2018 Workshop "CCURL 2018 – Sustaining Knowledge Diversity in the Digital Age". Miyazaki, p. 19-22.

we are looking for questionnaires and/or data sets that are collected in a similar way to

a) evaluate our data model and/or envision better modelling for existing data

b) jointly apply our data model on your data sets and run a co-experiment

c) discover access strategies and user scenarios

d) find evaluators for our visual analysis tools

e) collaborate e.g. to publish or present results of the process envisioned jointly

we are especially curious to add value from a multi-cultural perspective, addressing diversity values and making accessible indigenous knowledge.

we appreciate warmly your feedback

and look forward to work with you.

warm regards from vienna
