Obviously, the American soldiers are portrayed as the heroes in this story,
but their Japanese counterparts are never reduced to tasteless caricatures
of one-dimensional villains.

For those in the dark, the combatants at the battle of Midway were almost
entirely sailors and airmen (including Marine aviators).
