[Ads-l] "Short a" sound is the best spelled vowel in US English - truespel analysis

Of all the vowel sounds of US English, the "short a" sound (as in "cat") is the one most consistently spelled in traditional spelling (tradspel).  So when you hear the "short a" vowel sound it is spelled by the single letter "a" (not paired with another vowel letter) about 94% of the time in running text.  Exceptions are the words "laugh" ~laf, and "plaid" ~plad etcc .  See truespel analysis at :
