Past tense of "inlay":

2014 Homer _The Iliad_  (trans. Barry Powell) (Oxford: OUP) 443: And
Hephaestus inlay a herd/ of straight-horned cattle, made of gold and tin.

Even Homer's translators sometimes nod.
