Excellent research, Nancy.
There are tweets in 2011, 2013, 2014, & 2016 containing "prebunking".
The meaning has evolved. A 2016 tweet suggested the definition
"preemptive debunking".

Ben mentioned “prebunking” in a tweet dated Jan 8, 2019 while
acknowledging @pbump

I say "prebunking", but I admit I couldn't get to Twitter before Big
Hollywood could make the claim, albeit without using the word
"sexist".

I've got me a Twitter Tuesday topic. A prebunking of the inevitable
claim that The Roots playing "Lyin' Ass Bitch" for Bachmann is sexist.

@ProfJeffJarvis @oliverburkeman Prebunking is when you create the bunk
first so you can then debunk it. It’s a very Bunk 3.0 strategy.

@TomChivers @kahoakes The next big thing will be prebunking, where you
debunk something before it’s even been said.

The hate for @Ello_Official feels strong. They must be on to something.

Pre-bunking. It's like debunking but there's no need to wait. You
already know it's not going to work before it really starts:

"Just say no to Ello." http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2469429,00.asp

Pre-bunking belongs to the journalistic species known as hype, but
presents itself as the opposite: hype busting. I say it's hype because
it usually exaggerates the claims being made for the new thing in
order to show how ridiculously inflated these are. Thus: "the hottest
social network that's totally going to topple that capitalist cesspool
known as Facebook."

Pre-bunking is realism on the cheap. It's a fast and easy way to sound
savvy and sober— the adult in the room. You de-excite people in one
breath and get them riled up about balloon-popping in the next.

A good pre-bunker will skate over the surface of the phenomenon crying
"dig deeper, and there's nothing there!"

A whole lot of preemptive debunking (prebunking?) of the "bathroom
predator" narrative oft cited by opponents of trans protection.

With all the preemptive debunking (or prebunking -- thanks @pbump)
going on in advance of Trump's speech, here's my history of the term
"debunk" for
@WSJ. http://bit.ly/debunkbz
