Jocular elaboration of "Roger!" esp. in military aviation. Also more
absurdly) "Roger-dodger, over and out." Not in OED:

1943 Clarion-Ledger (Jackson, Miss.) (Nov. 2) 10: Finally,…the operator on
the Miami mike was heard to say with enthusiastic approval: “Roger dodger!”

1944 Ogden Standard-Examiner (Jan.29) 5: “Roger-dodger!” Mike agreed.

1947 American Speech XXII (Apr.) 110: This stage yielded Roger Dodger,
over, and out, in which the over and out are official radio terminology. Ad
absurdum forms appear in Roger Dodger, over, under, and out and Roger
Dodger, over and under, I'm a major too!

1951 Skyways [GB, looks real but unverified in print]: The Dilberts in the
movies, though would dress this up with “Roger Dodger, over and out ,"
which may sound more glamorous , but is highly incorrect .

1962 Connecticut Post (Bridgeport, Conn.) (Oct. 4) 2: “Roger Dodger,”
Schirra replied.

1980 Sarasota Herald-Tribune (July 19) 6: Roger dodger? Over and out.

2007 The Gazette (Cedar Rapids, Ia.) (May 2) 12: Roger dodger, 912, over
and out, base clear.

2020 Lyndi Alexander Adversaries (Austin, Tex.: Zumaya) 206: “When you’re
clear, rendezvous at the campus.” “Roger dodger!”

Eventually (of course) the nickname of Roger Staubach.
