Dear members of ads-l,

Yesterday I received a request from a freelance writer about the
word babygirl (sic; one word, not two). Urbandictionary.com
defines it this way: A term used towards grown<https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=grown> fictional men<https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=fictional%20men> who have the
fandom in a loving chokehold<https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=chokehold>.

With permission I am now sharing her message with ads-l
(below my signoff), and she would of course be very grateful
for any insight we might provide on the term.
Btw, her deadline is tomorrow (Friday).

Gerald Cohen

Hi Gerald,

My name is Marilyn, and I am a freelancer for Parents.com
currently working on a story about the origins of the word
babygirl, how it is used, and what it means. I was wondering
if you might be able to answer a few questions for me? Including
them below.

QUESTIONS:

What is a 'babygirl'?
What is the origin of 'babygirl'?
Who is a 'babygirl'?
What should parents know about this slang word?
Anything else?

Warmly,

Marilyn La Jeunesse<https://muckrack.com/mtlajeunesse/articles>
