Interesting topic, Nancy.
The term "cybercad" caught the eye of linguists back in 1994. The
Winter 1994 issue of "American Speech" published the column "Among the
New Words" which contained a collection of items using the "cyber"
prefix. The citation for "cybercad" pointed to an article in the
"Atlanta Constitution" dated July 12, 1993. The excerpt indicated that
the article was probably a reprint of the "Washington Post" piece
mentioned by Nancy and Jesse.

The term "cyberCAD" was already in use with a different meaning.
"cyberCAD" corresponded to computer aided design systems designed for
virtual reality, i.e., cyberspace.
