The author of the article (though admittedly maybe not of the headline) looks to probably be a non-native speaker.

In my experience, ‘remind’ is one of the verbs whose arguments often trip up non-native speakers. Probably because you can’t usually simply use any old noun as direct object as you’d probably expect. (Looking at examples of Italian ‘ricordare’, it seems to allow this in some cases.)
