I'm surprised at all this "Ee-yah" and "Yee-ah" stuff. I have always heard it solely as "Yee-hah," which I think is much more powerful.

two minutes. Jennings responded by lifting his cap and bowing to rooters on

1908 _Sunday News_ (Charleston, S.C.) (Feb. 2) 24: Hugh Jennings, manager
of the Detroit American League champions....His "yee-ah" became a famous
war cry in a season.
