"Ballistic glass" has been around for a while. I've found a Colt Industries annual report from 1970 that refers to "ballistic glass fiber." That's with less than five minutes of searching.
I'm sure if one digs around in industry publications and papers other early examples will turn up.

"ballistic glass" makes me think of flying drinkware. It's the bullet
that's ballistic, not the bulletproof glass.
Kind of like describing a sushi chef's knife as "pelagic" just because it's
used on seafood.
