The Dictionary Society of North America has partnered with local
organizations in the New York City area to establish a series of
meetups called MetroLex. MetroLex meetups bring together
lexicographers, linguists, technologists, educators, and other
language professionals to share research and projects relating to
dictionary technology, dictionary use, language documentation,
semantic ontologies, and lexicography.

After the great success of our first meetup, we are pleased to
announce the second in the series, which will once again be hosted by
Oxford University Press (NY). It will be held on April 11th at 6:45
p.m at OUP's lobby conference room at 198 Madison Avenue near the
corner of 35th Street. The theme of this session will be
"Lexicography, Language, and the Law." Three speakers will be making
brief presentations about ongoing projects:

* Robert A. Leonard, Hofstra University, Professor of Linguistics and
Director of the Institute for Forensic Linguistics

* Lawrence Solan, Brooklyn Law School, Professor of Law and Director
of the Center for the Study of Law, Language and Cognition

* Fred R. Shapiro, Yale Law School, Associate Librarian and Lecturer
in Legal Research

If you would like to attend the Feb. 11th meetup, please follow the
