[Algonquiana] "Dark cloud" in treaty/relationship

There is a phrase in Jacques Largillier's Illinois-French dictionary that refers to a covered (i.e., cloudy) sky as a metaphor for a time of war.

Hello all

I am looking for information about the use of the term "dark cloud" as it may have been used in treaty negotiations.

The term was apparently used in Treaty One here in Manitoba, but I only know of the English reference to it, so not sure what would have actually have been used in conversation, or how it could have been understood by different parties.

Looking for other examples of the use of this term, or any insights about the term's meaning (s), etc. If possible?
