If I remember correctly, the protoform is something like *sanglaR, but I
can't recall at the moment what the conditions for deletion of internal
postconsonantal *-l- was in Tagalog.
Anyway, the reflex in Sundanese is _sangray_ "roast in a frying pan/wok
without oil" (i.e. like the way you roast coffee beans or chestnuts) with
regular *R > y, but unusual *l > r explained (by Bernd Nothofer, if I
remember correctly) as the result of regressive assimilation to final *R
before shift of the latter to palatal.
