[An-lang] HA: object specific eat and drink verbs in Austronesian languages outside of Oceanic

*Ambel*:

-anán ‘eat (in general, intransitive)’

-íy ‘eat (in general, inc. betel nut; transitive)’

-wón ‘eat raw (e.g., shellfish)’


*Ma’ya* (van der Leeden’s dictionary):

-a ‘eat (in general)’

-‘gulu3 ‘eat sugar’ (< noun ‘gulu3 ‘sugar’, e.g. na-‘gulu3 ‘3sg-eat.sugar’)


*Matbat* (Remijsen 2014):

-a21 ‘eat (in general)’

yɔ1m ‘eat (in general)’ [I’m not sure what the difference is between -a21
and yɔ1m]

-ama12m ‘chew betel nut’



If the eat/chew betel nut distinction is of interest, that’s present in
Batta as well… let me know, and I’ll dig it out of my fieldnotes.
