[An-lang] Note regarding the informal survey on ICAL 2027 accessibility

Dear all,

I have read a recent response with disappointment.

Labeling legitimate concerns about conference accessibility as "inappropriate" or suggesting they should not be raised in this forum is not constructive and, frankly, undermines open discussion in our community.

ICAL belongs to all of us, and addressing potential barriers to participation — especially for senior scholars who are essential to the quality of our field — is entirely appropriate, particularly at this early stage when adjustments are still possible.

Dismissing these issues or directing them to private channels only avoids the transparent conversation we should be having as a community.

I hope we can focus on the substance of the concerns rather than questioning the timing or manner in which they are raised.

Best regards,
Yuko Kitada
