Dear all,
I apologize for sending another message on this topic — thank you for your patience.
I just wanted to clarify that my previous messages were only meant to raise some potential concerns for consideration while planning is still ongoing. Of course, if changes are not possible, that's completely understandable — organizing a conference is challenging, and decisions have to be made.
However, some concerns have been raised about accessibility (including travel time and summer timing). Perhaps we could discuss ways to mitigate this, such as arranging shuttle buses from the airport or strengthening hybrid/online options to make participation easier for everyone, especially senior scholars.
If exploring other venues is an option, there are also rental conference facilities (such as TKP centers near Tokyo Station) that offer good airport access and flexible setups for 150–200 participants.
If those are not feasible, it might be helpful to note that some key participants could find it difficult to attend, which could affect the program. In that case, early information would allow everyone to plan accordingly.
I fully appreciate the organizers' efforts and am looking forward to ICAL in Japan regardless. I hope we can find a solution that works for as many people as possible.
Best regards,
Yuko Kitada
