Following up on an earlier post to this list, I confirm that the words
قُرْص ج أقراص ("qurs" plural "aqraas") are commonly used in Lebanon to
refer to the shape of"kafta" or "kibbe" balls in certain Lebanese dishes.
Also used in Lebanon, the verb  قَرَّص -  "qarrassa" -   meaning to make
the flattened ball shape in the food preparation context.

A quick search in Google yielded:

304,000 occurrences for اقراص الكفتة
80,900 occurrences for قرص الكفتة
78,600 occurrences   اقراص الكبة
66.100 occurrences  for قرص الكبة


Another search of the word قرص/اقراص at http://arabicorpus.byu.edu provided
a good number of occurrences of both words "qurs" and "aqraas" in the food
context as in these few examples:
 اقراص الكبة - اقراص الطعمية - اقراص الخبز - اقراص الفلافل - اقراص العجوة
والغريبة والمعمول - اقراص الحلوى - قرص جبنة - رمى اليه بقرص فأكله -  الخ

Dear All

Greetings

    This term has been recently introduced to Egyptian Arabic, with the
rise of the interest in ethnic food. You can always hear this term in food
channels/shows. I think they at times call it /kurAAt illaHmah/, adding the
feminine suffix for the colloquial /ah/, and also /kuftit dawuud baasha/, a
Turkish dish, named after  Dawuud Pasha or 'David' and pasha is a Turkish
title.

عند دراسة تسمية المصريين لكلمة مثل meatballsﻻبد من اﻻخذ في اﻻعتبار المستوى
اﻻجتماعى و التعليمى للمتحدث حيث يوجد ممن ينتموا لمستوى اجتماعى مرتفع من
يسمى كفتة "داوود باشا" او "كفتة اﻻرز" ب meatballs خاصا ﻻبنائهم الذين يتلقوا
تعليمهم في مدارس دولية (امريكية او انجليزية )..الجدير بالدراسة ان مسمى
"كرات اللحم" قد يكون دارج بين المصريين بعد عدة سنوات و ذللك بسبب عدة عوامل
منها افتتاح متاجر IKEA  في القاهرة و  فى مطعم الذى ينال اقبال كبير من
المصريين توجد "كرات اللحم" و تعتبر من اشهر الوجبات التى يقدمها، فيعتبر هذا
المكان من افضل اﻻماكن التى يمكن
 من خلاله دراسة ماذا يسمى المصريون باختلاف اعمارهم و مستواياتهم اﻻجتماعية
"كرات اللحم".
