LARC/CALPER Assessment Series.
Tomorrow: LARC/CALPER 12th Webinar on Assessment
Join us for our webinar on
"Assessing Vocabulary"
Dr. John Read
University of Auckland, New Zealand
Tomorrow
Wednesday, February 19, 2014
3:30 - 4:40pm EST
Description:
Learners of second languages are very conscious about the fact that
becoming proficient users of the language involves acquiring adequate
knowledge of vocabulary. Thus, teachers need to be able to monitor their
students' vocabulary development and set realistic targets for their
students to learn the words that they need to know. Aside from discussing
more traditional progress tests, in this webinar we will also look in
detail at the critical concept of "vocabulary size" and how it can be
defined and measured and we will examine how to assess knowledge of
collocations and other multi-word lexical units - all of which are concepts
currently much discussed in assessment and vocabulary studies.
This webinar is a free professional development event for educators
organized and broadcast by CALPER and LARC (the LRC at San Diego State
University).
