coding disfluencies

thank you for your answer
using 'special characters' gives the same result - i get a square instead, 
it's not a problem with F2 key
i tried to use other special characters and sometimes it gives squares, but 
certain combinations of special characters are allowed, i.e. if i use F2+{ 
and then F2+/ i get both symbols correctly, but not when used individually
is there a solution?
