On Thursday evening I attended the opening of the fascinating new exhibit
(running till May) at Seattle's Museum of History & Industry,

                  A C H A N G E O F W O R L D S
                      Photographs and Artifacts of
                      Puget Sound Native Americans

Salmon and Cheeses to die for. Young drummers and dancers from the
Muckleshoot (b at q@ls^ul~). A fair amount of spoken Lushootseed in the air
-- speakers included Chief Andy De Los Angeles (sp?) of the Snoqualmie
(sdukwalbixw) and Vi taqws^eblu Hilbert (Skagit elder and Lushootseed
literary maven).

Lushootseed was the main Native language to be seen in the exhibit, but
there was also some CJ; I noted particularly a photograph of a Native
woman with a Stars and Stripes backdrop and the title "Patriotic Young
Siwash Klootchman"...

Anybody who is in Seattle between now and May really oughta go see this.
It's billed as the largest such exhibit of Puget Sound materials ever
mounted.
