MEEKER BY PHONOGRAPH
PIONEER ADDRESSES AUDIENCE BY MEANS OF MACHINE.
Reunion of Old Timers at Puyallup --
Sing Song in Chinook --
Unveil Tablet.
TACOMA, JULY 10. -- Pioneers of Pierce and King counties joined in the
quarterly reunion at Puyallup today, the event of which was the unveiling
in the park of a Meeker memorial tablet on the site of the first home of
Ezra Meeker, who drove an ox team over the old Oregon trail 60 years ago.
A feature of the meeting was a phonographic talk by Meeker, who is now in
Nebraska, and who sent two five-minute records of an address prepared by
him for the occasion. The pioneers joined in a song in Chinook, had a
basket picnic and listened to addresses by prominent people.
