Klahowya-
I'm glad to hear the list is back up. I've been reading a new edition of
Gerald Vizenor's "Manifest Manners: Narratives on PostIndian Survivance."
There are some interesting sections about the subject of colonial
translations of Indian languages. I have just begun ingesting the book and
the language is quite complicated. The concepts of "Manifest Manners" and
the "Postindian" are new to me and I believe originate with this work. But
there is much truth in the ways in which Worldviews are translated. For
those who will look into this book, the first mention of linguistic
translations is in the Preface.
