Of a site 14.5 km east of Lytton on Highway 1:
"It was nearby that the four-headed cannibal, Iopa'skay'uuxw, made
Ndimkaa's wife crack open human bones, take out for him the marrow he
loved to eat, and cache the remains. He was finally defeated by the
young boy, Ngliksentem, who tossed pieces of the cannibal to such
faraway places as Honolulu and Mexico, where they now form volcanoes.
There were both Hawaiians and Mexicans present in the region from the
Gold Rush onwards, and many intermarried with the locals; but I wonder
if this story is older than Contact, and by what names Mexico and Hawaii
might have been known.
There are numerous volcanic peaks and lava features in the region; it is
possible that this legend refers to an ancient volcano in some way,
although not as directly as in other BC legendary histories......
