Hello, kanawi-lhaksta,
A friend has just helped me discover ICQ, a messenging program that you can
download into your computer for free. We were able to connect directly with
each other and "chat" for as long as we wanted. Now I have a better
understanding of what's involved with an idea that has been mentioned on this
list before: Chinuk-wawa chat sessions as a fun way to learn more of the
language.
Who among you knows the best way to go about making this happen? I mean,
should we set up a chat room, or have everyone who's interested simply set up
ICQ or AOL Messenger, or something else? When might be a good time for a
session that Henry or Tony could participate in, if they wanted? (Or Ila,
though if she doesn't like typing, someone might need to volunteer to cover
that duty!) Could this be done say at least once a month?
I noticed that an ICQ user can save any session that she/he has participated
in, and reread it in the future. This might be a valuable source of
information for some of us, given the lack of Chinuk teaching materials.
Ikta mEsayka tEmtEm?
Dave
