This good message was intended to reach the list, too, if I'm not mistaken. Mike, your point is well taken; sounds like an interesting point to research. (However, any originally French words in e.g. Chilcotin are perhaps equally likely to have come via Chinook Jargon as from an Athapaskan-based jargon.) -- Dave
