Polynesian semantic influences

Seems to me there are ChinUk Wawa words that are semantically similar to
Hawaiian makai and mauka (not so clearly related phonetically), and I've
often wondered if this was due to Polynesian influence from the kanakas and
Owhyhee men at Astoria etc. Will try to locate them and repost if nobody
knows which words I'm talking about.
