"Indian candy" [fwd from ADS-L list]

Is this primarily a BC term?

A Google search filtering out a couple false positives turned up roughly
430 hits.  I clicked on maybe 15 of them, and all but one seemed to be
related to British Columbia.

One seemed like it might be Alaskan.  A more characteristic Alaskan synonym
(at least until my childhood) would be "squaw candy".

Alternative guess:  Is this a polite, modern synonym for the Alaskan term?
