Thanks Phil,

The book "Undaunted Courage" which chronicles the travels of Lewis & Clark is who were dependent upon tribes along the way, and a Native woman to lead them along the route.  Those who in the end saved that expedition from extinction, must now have undaunted stubbornness in order to gain recognition when for political reasons they are denied a goal for which they so long have striven from a government which has declared them extinct.
