Here in BC I grew up on the term saltchuck - in fact I had no idea it came from Chinook until about ten years ago. I just assumed it was a nautical english term. My wife Catherine just walked by and noted that in the 1970s in Ocean Falls the salt water was only ever refered to as the chuck. Bernard Lillooet BC
