I suppose the mark of a CJ word that has truly arrived is that it
appears in a crossword puzzle.  On January 26 the Oregonian printed a
puzzle by Philip J. Anderson with this clue: elite group.  Actually
this clue was repeated several times, with these answers: pick of the
litter, cream of the crop, privileged class, and (the winner is. . .)
high muckamucks.
